(WEDOWEE) Funeral services for Hiram Ray Benefield, 83, of Wedowee will be Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Sister Carolyn Hanner and the Rev. Jodie Overton officiating. Burial will follow in Potash Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee.
Mr. Benefield died Thursday, Sept. 1, at Wedowee Hospital.
Mr. Benefield was born Aug. 21, 1933, the son of Byron Clark and Bertha Baldwin Benefield. He was owner of Ray Benefield's Garage and a member of Woodland Church of God.
Mr. Benefield is survived by two daughters, Freda Benefield King and Laila Benefield, both of Wedowee; two sons, Randy Benefield of Centralhatchee and Layden Benefield of Wedowee; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a host of very special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Blanche Holloway Benefield; a daughter, Rebecca Benefield Grant; and six brothers Douglas, Donald, Bobby, Charles, Terrell and Wesley Benefield.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Benefield, Gene Benefield, Clark Benefield, Robert Benefield, Justin Benefield, Nathan Sikes, Blu Sledge and Kevin Walker.
