ORANGE- Nancy J. (Parmenter) Adams, 76, formerly of 383 East River Street, King James Court, and a resident of Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol, died on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Athol Memorial Hospital, with her family at her side, after being stricken ill earlier.

Born in Orange on April 5, 1931, she was a daughter of Albert G. and Mildred A. (Sibley) Parmenter and grew up in Orange, graduating from Orange High School in 1949.

She was married to Richard F. Adams Sr. in 1955 in Orange and had enjoyed 35 years together at the time of his death in 1990.

Nancy had worked at the L. S. Starrett Company in Athol for 10 years and previously had worked at Franklin County Home Care. Later in her life, she worked at the Athol Senior Center.

A devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for her grandchildren, she also liked to do crossword puzzles, attend church suppers, and go shopping. Nancy also enjoyed going to the Orange Alumni dinners every year.

Survivors include her children, Julie Gelinas of Athol, Robyn Sumner, and her partner Scott Woodbury, of Orange, Linda Allen, and her husband Tim, of Athol, and Richard Adams Jr. of Orange; her grandchildren, Jeremy Gelinas and his wife Amy, Adam Gelinas, Emily Sumner, Natalie Sumner, Timothy Allen, Dustin Allen, Samuel Adams, and Larrisa Adams; a great granddaughter, Hannah Gelinas; brothers, Albert G. Parmenter Jr., and his wife Blanchette, of Belchertown, Norman E. Parmenter, and his wife June, of Athol, Franklin D. Parmenter of Orange; sisters, Elaine M. Adams of Athol, Barbara Maher, and her husband Thomas, of Sparta, New Jersey, Ann Wilson of Newington, Connecticut; and a great aunt, Althea Lambert of Northampton

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning, September 11, 2007 at 11:00AM at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange. The Rev. Adam Randazzo of the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church in Athol will officiate.

Interment will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery, upper section off Horrigan Ave., Athol.

There will be a calling hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00AM

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Orange Scholarship Foundation, P. O. Box 298, Orange, MA 01364

Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is directing the arrangements.
