Carol Tickle Hearn was born July 17, 1946 and passed away September 18, 1983 at Santa Rosa Hospital, San Antonio, Texas following a long illness. She departed this life at the age of 37 years, 2 months and 1 day. Burial was at Cotulla, Texas.
She was born and raised in the Grant area. She attended the Grant Elementary School and graduated from Perkins County High school in 1964. Upon graduation, she attended the Kearney Beauty Academy at Kearney, Nebraska and received her license in 1965. She returned to Grant and owned and operated her own beauty shop until she moved from Grant to Texas in 1969. On November 30, 1970, she was united in marriage to Dwyatt Hearn. To this union were born two sons; Jason Dale, age 6 and Kristopher Lee, age 8, who were very special to her. She and her family moved to their present home in February, 1978. During her early life in Nebraska she developed a deep love for animals, having belonged to a riding club for several years. This interest in animals continued after her move to the country where she cared for her farm animals and also worked part time at the San Antonio Animal League.
Carol enjoyed life and had a deep love for all living things. She expressed this love in many ways, one of which was gardening and taking care of her house plants. Although the miles separated her from her parents, brothers, and sisters, she maintained an extraordinary closeness to them.
Carol's life was an inspiration to her family and friends. She had a way of understanding people and accepting them and loving them for what they were.
Her thoughts were of others needs above those of her own. Her consideration for others was particularly evident during her illness. She endured pain with a quiet courage so that those around her would feel less distress. When she could no longer physically fulfill others needs, she inquired about their comfort. Her concern for others quickly became evident to the nurses who cared for her. She became a special person to them and they responded with great tenderness and love in her care, saying, "She makes it easy for us to take care of her with love". Throughout her live, Carol's determination was strong and she refused to give up on any challenge. The past many months, she fought a gallant battle with grace and dignity as she had lived all her life. She had a strong and loving heart and gave so much of herself to those who loved her. We gained many blessings from her life and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Dwyatt and sons Jason and Kristopher of San Antonio, Texas. her mother and father, Ralph and Helen Tickle, Grant, Nebraska; brothers: Kevin Tickle, Grant, Nebr.; Galen Tickle and family, Grant, Nebr.; sisters:
