The Pine Tree
By Dorothy Drew Loveridge

Dad planted a tree on the mound
In that small plot of hallowed ground,
To watch over his only son
Until the Resurrection is begun.

He planted the pine at Easter time
Shoots sprout forming crosses sublime
Branching off to form one crowning cross,
Pine trees know when Easter is, sympathic with our loss.

The crosses on the pine trees
Is another witness as they branch off in threes,
Reminding Brent that pine trees were a connection
To Easter and represented the Resurrection.

Brent will step out on legs that are strong
Singing a cheerful, happy song
As he walks with open arms toward Him
Waiting where the pine tree marks the rim.

His spirit will be reunited with his body found
As it rises from that hallowed ground.
There is no death – no permanent parting
Manifest when the new Millennium is starting.
