Otto was born in Germany to Frederich Wilhelm Eifert and Mary (Pabst) Eifert. He had two brothers Albert and Richard and one half brother Wilhelm Hugo. He was in the Merchant Marines (German or English) and jumped ship in Carteret New Jersey about 1912. He married a woman who's maiden name was possibly Miller. They had one son, Henry, who was born about 1915. She died and Otto married a second time to Margaret Faber. They had one son named Otto Richard, who was born in 1927. Otto is buried in Rahway Cemetery next to his second wife, Margaret.
