"EIGHTH GRADE OF 1930 - Probably no other Eighth Grade accomplished as much as did the Eighth Grade of 1930. This grade made a name for itself by taking various honors. The entire school was pleasantly entertained at various times by short plays. Also the Eighth Grade played a prominent part in the grade operetta, two of the principal parts being very ably filled by Helen Louise Storm and Willard Johnson.

It was during the second semester that the Eighth Grade began to make the public set up and take notice. It was conceded by all that they put on the best chapel programs, they took second honors in the annual stunt night program, put on the best play of the year; and finished with the Eighth Grade graduation entertainment, one of the most pleasing entertainments ever witnessed in school.

Probably the most consistent winner in athletics was Emery Richardson, who won honors, both at Clinton and Weatherford. Frank Sanders, a new student from Rocky, also won honors in track.

Great praise was given to the exhibit which the 8th Grade displayed at the end of the school. It was acclaimed by many to be the best ever exhibited.

The Eighth Grade is proud of their attendance during the entire year. There was eight who had perfect attendance. They are Dorothy Agan, Vernace Briles, Frances Matthews, Paul McDown, Emery Richardson, .... ...., ..... .... and Richard Burgtoft. The class had a 100 per cent attendance for the last six weeks and the yearly average was 98 percent.

Those who graduate are: Dorothy Agan, Vernace Briles, Richard Burgtorf, Loyd Conley, Mildred Conklin, Joe Hayes, Lela Henderson, Neva Halladay, Rosie Ireton, Howard Koppel, Sue Louise Leeka, Juell Little, Frances Matthews, Paul McDown, Jack Porter, Wilson Porter, Herbert Powers, Frank Sanders, Vernal Shaw, Letha Mae Shepard, Vetabel Sorter, Halen Louise Storm, Agatha Schneider, Bert Ray, Emery Richardson, Charles Wallace Burns, and Edna Mae Switzer."
