William Fred Bohrns, was born April 1, 1899 in O'Brien County near Paullina, Iowa to Chris and Sophie Runge Bohrns. He passed away at Cherokee, Iowa on June 12, 1972 at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 11 days.

Most of his lifetime was spent in O'Brien County. He attended school at Sutherland and then was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad for 43 years. He retired January 1, 1966. For 28 years he has resided in Calumet.

On July 20, 1921 he was united in marriage to Lillie Thoms at Cherokee, Iowa. They became the parents of 3 children.

Preceding him in death were his parents and 1 son. Dale, who died during World War II.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, 1 son, Ivan of Spencer and 1 daughter, Phyllis (Mrs. Tom Powers) of Hartley, 2 grandchild­ren, Stacey and Darcy Powers, 1 brother, Henry of Calumet; 2 sisters, Mrs. Dora Thoms of Paullina and Mrs. Herman Eilks of Cherokee, nieces and nephew, other relatives and many friends.
