Elmer "Pete" Allen died Nov. 11 in Alturas from an apparent heart attack. The Fort Bidwell native was 60 years of age and had been in declining health for several years.

Allen was born Dec. 8, 1912 in Fort Bidwell and spent his entire life in Modoc County. He was a graduate of Surprise Valley High School and also held a private pilots license.

He had also been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Allen was preceded in death by his wife Irma on Jan 12, 1977.

Services were conducted at graveside in the Eagleville Cemetery this morning, the Rev. Robert Roop officiating.

He is survived by two daughters, Mable Robinson and Barbara Smith of Alturas; son, Joel Allen of Alturas; two sisters, Ester Yarbrough of Tulelake and Fay Teague of Susanville; and one brother, James Allen of Redding. Seven grandchildren also survive.
