BALLEW – Gerald "Jerry" F. Jerry was born on February 14, 1928 in Cookson, OK. His parents were Jeff Ballew and Lola (Fanning) Ballew. Jerry left us on October 15, 2004 as a result of cancer, the only thing he couldn't fix. Jerry graduated from Central High School in 1945. He started college at Northeastern State University, but the United States Army had other ideas. He was a General Project Manager for various construction companies in the Tulsa area over the past 30 years. He also had his own excavating business in both Tulsa and Cherokee County. He is survived by: his wife and best friend, Sharon Edison Ballew. He is also survived by 6 children, Donna VanHorn-Garvin and her husband, Billy of Broken Arrow, Gary Ballew of Oklahoma City, Cathy Knowles and her husband, Rusty of Fort Gibson, J.C. Ballew and his wife, Dawn of Tahlequah, David Ballew and his wife, Kim of Broken Arrow, and Marc Edison and his wife, Leslie of Broken Arrow; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Jerry also had 10 siblings and is survived by 7 of these siblings; and a host of nieces and nephews. If success is truly measured by the people we've helped and the friends we have made and kept in our life's journey, then his journey is surely paved with gold. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, in Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel and a Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, later that afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Cookson United Methodist Church in Cookson, OK. A celebration of life party will be held in his honor at the T.A.C.O. building in Cookson following interment in Cookson-Proctor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Green Country Hospice and the American Cancer Society. Floral Haven.
