Formerly Blea, born June 29, 1943, in El Macho New Mexico she passed away Monday November 16, 1998, from multiple myeloma (cancer) at the age of 55 at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, NM. She graduated from Pecos High School in 1961 and retired from the State of New Mexico Department of Transportation in June of 1992. She lived in El Macho for eighteen years of her married life. She was a lifetime parishioner of St. Anthony Church in Pecos, NM. She and husband Fred were the Mayordomo's of the mission church, Nuestra Senora De Guadalupe in Macho, NM.
She is preceded in death by her father, Placido Blea, Mother Bernarda "Bernie" Martinez Blea, grandmother who raised her Nicholasa Martinez and uncle who raised her Fidel "Cowboy" Martinez.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years Fred Herrera, stepmother Beatrice Blea of Pueblo Colorado, brother Fred "Freddie Blea and Joe "Eddie Blea of Macho New Mexico. Half-sisters Irene Blea of Rio Rancho, NM, Susan Blea from Pueblo Colorado, Stella De Lao, and husband John of Pueblo Colorado. Half-brothers Eugene Blea and wife Maria of Denver Colorado, Florencio Blea, and wife Alice of Pueblo Colorado. Aunts Antonia Roybal of Los Angeles California, MaryJane Varela of Pecos New Mexico. Her beloved nephew, Andrew Quintana, and wife Yvette of Pecos NM. Niece Karen Blea of Pueblo Colorado, numerous nieces, nephew other relatives and friends.
There will be a rosary on Wednesday, November 18 at 7:00pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Visitation will be on Thursday November 19 at St. Anthonys Church in Pecos New Mexico at 3:00pm followed by a rosary at 7:00pm. Mass of Christian burial will be officiated by Father Jay Voorhies on Friday November 20 at 11:00am at St. Anthony Church in Pecos New Mexico with burial to follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in El Macho. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the International Myeloma Foundation.
