Funeral services for the late John T. Friel were held at the his home in Cherryville Saturday, February 10 with interment in the Cherryville cemetery.

The deceased was born December 1, 1840, at Wilmington, Delaware. He was a Civil War veteran, enlisting with the first 75,000. He served three months, reenlisting and serving three years.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Lodemia Friel; and four children, Margaret Murray, of Cherryville, Mabel McIntyre of Portland, Eva Sinclair of Wapinitia, Oregon and Jerry S. Friel of Bend, Oregon.

He moved with his family from Delaware to Iowa in 1868, living there until 1906, when he came of Oregon where he has resided until his death, Thursday, February 8.
