Phyllis Florence Sagle, born in The Bronx, New York on February 10, 1935, peacefully passed away on April 15, 2011 at her home, 1475 Catherine Drive, Berkeley, California.
She taught speech, drama, and film on the high school level in San Lorenzo, California and Toronto, Canada. In Toronto she acted in the Firehouse Theater; in Berkeley in the Live Oak Theater. She had major roles in Phaedre, Design for Living and Candide. Additional careers included retail in the Bay Area. She also successfully sold real estate in Manhattan, New York. She infused just about everybody she met with her sparkling personality, her sharp wit, and her sense of humor.
She was married twice in her life; first to Arthur Benvenuto for twenty-four years and later to Allan Sagle for twenty-one years. She was so remarkable that both husbands still love her and get along with each other.
She is survived by her sister, Helane Zeiger, her step-daughters, Laura Litosh and Ellisa Brown, her nieces, Mimi Zeiger and Jessica Goldstein, and her nephews, Theodore Zeiger and David Goldstein.
Her funeral will take place on Friday, April 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Gan Shalom Cemetery, 1100 Bear Creek Road, Briones, CA (GPS, Martinez, CA).
