MATTHEWS - Memorial service for Ruth Sullivan Carson, 76, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, corner of Highway 21 and Murph Mill Road, St. Matthews. Dunbar Funeral Home is in charge. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Route 1, Box 404, St. Matthews, SC 29135
Mrs. Carson died Wednesday, October 3, 2001. Born in Rock Hill, she was a daughter of the late Walter C. Sullivan and Josie Hall Sullivan. She was an honor graduate of Winthrop College and received her Master's degree from Duke University. She retired from Midlands Technical College as an English Professor and was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Raymond P. Carson; daughter, Mary Jo Wilder of Kinston, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Terry Carson and her fiance, Michael Scruggs of Columbia; sister, Frances Cauthen of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Her son, Walter Carson and her grandson, Will Carson, predeceased her.
