J. C. Bates, 85, of Longview passed away Saturday, April 22, 2006.
Graveside services are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in Charleston Cemetery in Delta County. Interment follows follows under the direction of Delta Funeral Home.
The family meets at the funeral home Wednesday before service time.
He was born Dec. 27, 1920, the son of John Bates and Lulu Watson Bates. He had lived in Longview since 1947 and was retired from the City of Longview. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by a son, Larry Portley of Texarkana; daughters Faye Ausborn and Sandra Johnson, both of Longview; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
