Her mother was born about 1907 in Tempe, Arizona. Alecia was the third child born to this couple. The 1930 census lists a brother Juan Jr., born in 1927 and a sister Candelaria born in 1929. Also in the household was Rosario's mother Paubla B Romero, born about 1872. Juan Alegria Sr. was employed as a laborer at the Ajo Copper mine during this time.
