Donald Henry Albright of 2 Peaceful Lane in Fletcher died peacefully, in sure and certain hope of resurrection on Saturday, June 4, 2011, after a valiant struggle against heart failure and thyroid cancer.
"Don" was born on May 12, 1939 in Sweetair, Maryland to the late Henry Randolph Albright annd Ethel Foulke Albright. He was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Edward Albright.
Mr. Albright enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1961 and was honorably discharged on October 31, 1967. He married Nancy Lee Willing of Baltimore, MD on August 6, 1963 and they had three children. He moved to Fletcher, NC in 1977 and worked for Coleman Tire Company of Asheville and Gerber Products of Skyland until his retirement. He enjoyed automobiles, gardening and landscaping, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and serving his congregation at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Fairview.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Albright is survived by his daughter, Tammy Epley; a son, Kenneth and three grandchildren, Julia, Meredith, and Faith.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Fairview with Pastor David Eck officiating. A reception will follow at the church. The interment will take place at 10:00 am Friday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 801 Charlotte Highway, Fairview, NC 28730 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
