Franklin Roosevelt Abrecht, Sr. 75 of frederick, MD died Wednesday at his home with his family by his side.
Mr. Abrecht, born in Frederick County, MD, was the son of the late Walter R. Abrecht and Margaret E. Crutchley Abrecht. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister and a brother. He was a retired truck driver with BFI in Frederick, MD. he was a Presbyterian. Frank was a former member of the Friendship Fire Co. in Harpers Ferry and a former police officer for the towns of Harpers Ferry and Bolivar. He loved to watch NASCAR, especially Dale Jarrett and westerns with John Wayne.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Myrtle Dailey Abrecht at the home, one daughter, Dianne Sears of Frederick, MD; five sons, Franklin R. Abrecht, Jr.and wife Lark, Larry S. Abrecht and wife Shelly, and Jerry A. Abrecht all of Frederick, MD; Charles A. Abrecht and wife Diane of Sharpsburg, MD; and Terry L. Abrecht and friend Shelva of Martinsburg, WV; four brothers, Walter Abrecht of Virginia Beach, VA; Francis Abrecht of Adel, GA; Richard Abrecht of Woodsboro, MD; and Marion Abrecht of Frederick, MD; nine grandchildren, Kimmy, Angie, Jeff, Craig, Amanda, Daniel, Jessica, Tiffany and Sarah, three great grandchildren, Jazmine, Kayla and Austin and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family recieved friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 19, 2010 from 7-9pm and on Saturday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
The funeral services were held at 2pm, Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, US 340 at Halltown Rd, Charles Town/Harpers Ferry, WV; with the Rev. Doug Fraim officiating.
Burial was made in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery, Bolivar, WV.
