SAN PABLO San Pablo resident Bernie A. Velasquez, 58, passed away March 16, 2011.

Bernie was born on November 10, 1952 in San Luis, Colorado the son of Alex Velasquez and Erma Martinez Velasquez.

He was enlisted and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Bernie was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother who enjoyed traveling, fishing, working on cars, riding motorcycles, drawing and spending time with family.

Survivors include his wife Elaine Velasquez of San Pablo, Colo.; daughters Stephannie Velasquez (Juan Infante) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Daphne Velasquez (Rigo Lopez) of San Pablo, Colo.; five grandchildren Alina Perez, Daria and Levi Velasquez both of San Pablo, Colo.; Jadyn Infante -Velasquez, and Emilio Infante-Velasquez both of Colorado Springs, Colo., maternal mother-in-law Bertha Medina of San Luis, Colo.; sisters Cathy Velasquez and Loretta Velasquez both of Alamosa, Colo.; brother William (Betty) Velasquez of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Erma Velasquez, and one brother Levi Velasquez.

A Prayer Service will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 6 p.m. at the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith in Christ Jesus Church at 700 Alfonso Street in San Luis. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 10 a.m. also at the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith in Jesus Christ Church. Interment will follow at the Amalia New Mexico Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements are in care of Romero Funeral Home of San Luis.
