Esther Coleman, 90, of Beclabito passed from this life on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Lovelace Hospice Vista Care in Albuquerque.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lucy Coleman; husband, John Lee; sons, Willie Lee and Raymond Van Lee, Sr.; daughter, Rose Cortez; and brothers, Charlie Coleman and James Coleman Sr.
She is survived by her children, son, Daniel Van Lee Sr., daughters, Maetah Atcitty, Edith Lee, Isabelle George; brother Nelson Coleman Sr.; sisters, Mary Weaver, Minnie Yazzie, Betty Coleman and Allison Coleman; numerous nieces, nephews; 33 grandchildren; 54 great- grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren.
She was a rug weaver and sheepherder for many years. She always helped people and enjoyed watching Golden Girls. She loved going to traditional ceremonies and helping out relatives. She was a very strong lady who fought lung cancer to the very end.
The viewing will be at the graveside at the family plot in Beclabito (Yellowtree).
Reception will follow at Shima's house in Beclabito (Yellowtree).
Pallbearers are Everett Gilbert, Nelson Coleman Jr., James Coleman, Earl Hicks, Larry Benally Jr., and Jeconiah Lee.
Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Van Lee Jr., William Van Lee, Sterling Benally, Craighton Van Lee, Jason Cortez and Samuel Atcitty.
The family would like attendees in support of lung cancer awareness, if possible, to wear the color white.
