Born in 1849, son of David Atwood 1821-1907 and Lucy Jane Bowler 1826-1849. Charles Bowler Atwood grew up in Millbury and trained at architectural firms in Worcester and Boston before building his career in New York. In 1891, he joined Daniel Burnham in Chicago to help design the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition and design 15 buildings. Among his works was the masterful Palace of Fine Arts, which later became the Field Museum of Natural History.
