Upon more examination of the various records, I think that Olaf is likely not the son of Mattes Akeson, even though they were in the same household in 1870. This is primarily because Olof's obituary doesn't mention Mattes or any of Mattes' other children as survivors, and because Olof is at the very bottom, after all his and his wife's children. I suspect that Olof and Mattes are related, possibly brothers or uncle/nephew, but research into the Swedish records might make that clear. Please do not accept the suggestion of Mattes Akeson of Weeping Water as the father.

Mr Akerson arrived in America in 1867, settling at Plattsmouth, Nebraska. He was married to Miss Nellie Olson at Plattsmouth Nebraska, Oct 14, 1870. Mr Akerson came to Fillmore county (sic) in 1873 and moved his family settling upon the homestead, the present home, in 1874, at which place he has lived all these years until the time of his death. His beloved wife, Mrs Akeron (sic) passed away April 7, 1894. He has been tenderly and happily cared for in the later years of his life by his children.

He leaves to mourn his departure, the children all of Ong, two grandchildren, two sisters in Sweden, one sister died a few years ago, a host of relatives and many near and dear friends who greatly adored and loved him.

Funeral services were held from the home at 1:30 and at the church in Ong at 2 o'clock. His pastor, Rev Henning L. Hassel, spoke in the Swedish language at the home using as text 1 Thess. 4:18 and in the English at the church using at text Heb 14:18 and II Tim. 4:7,8.
