Orene Bailey Yancy, 95, passed from this life Monday August 26th, 2013 in Norman, Oklahoma. She spent most of her life in Ida, Louisiana before moving to Norman, Oklahoma. Orene was born January 29th, 1918 in Doddridge, Arkansas to Mary and Charles Lewis [Todd] Bailey. She was preceded in death by her husband Nub Yancy, five brothers, and four sisters. She is survived by one sister, Ouida Branch, of Memphis, Tennessee and one sister-in-law, Aline Adams, of Ida, Louisiana.
Orene leaves behind her children Don Yancy of Henderson, Texas and Brenda McKellar and husband John of Norman, Oklahoma. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Missy and husband Carlton, Jamie and wife Allison, Grey and wife Medina, plus seven great grandchildren - Grasyn and Stinson Fuller- Austin, Colton, and Hailey Yancy - and Ian and Denton McKellar.
A memorial will be held in Ida, Louisiana at the Ida Community Center on Saturday, September 28th at 1:00 pm. Visitation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Ida Baptist Church, PO Box 247, Ida, Louisiana 71044 or to the Ida Cemetery Fund, PO Box 299, Ida, Louisiana 71044.
