Mr. Clouse passed away peacefully, Friday, April 10, 2015 at Upper Cumberland Hospice Center.

Mr. Clouse was born March 21, 1942 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late Harvey James Clouse and Ruby Crabtree Clouse.

James was a member of the Holladay Church of Christ. He loved the Lord and missed being able to attend church services the last few years due to his health. He served as a deacon at Central Church of Christ in Winter Haven, Florida before moving back to Cookeville in 2000. He held a special place in his heart for the elderly and kids, always giving them treats, and was known as “The Candy Man” at church.

For 37 years, he worked in the insurance business, retiring in 1999. In 1981, as an agent with Gulf Life, was the only agent in his district to make the Million Dollar Round Table. He loved people, and always said people were much easier to talk with if you could get them to laugh. He helped and touched the lives of many people throughout his career.

He enjoyed many hobbies in his spare time, including: camping, fishing, shrimping, and woodworking.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Luther and Ethel Crabtree, and Elmer and Annie Clouse.

His family includes, his wife of 51 years, Linda Billingsley Clouse, (whom he married June 13, 1963); a daughter, Kimberly Cummings of Casselberry, Florida; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Kathy Clouse of Cookeville; two granddaughters, Stephanie Chapdelaine and husband, Chad, of Winter Springs, Florida, and Brittany Turner of Cookeville; two grandsons, Brandon Cummings of Auburndale, Florida and Josh Turner of Cookeville; two great-grandsons, Caden and Kyler Chapdelaine, and Colton Michael, (due in June) of Winter Springs, Florida; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Bob Mathis of Baxter; Linda and Robert Dickens of Cookeville, Christine Taylor of Cookeville, Judy and Gary Lowe of Cheyennne, Wyoming, Karen Clouse of Hinesville, Georgia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Linda Clouse of Cookeville, Bob and Linda Clouse of Dickson, Tennessee, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
