Robert Paul Berenbaum
Birth: Sep. 6, 1944
Denver County
Colorado, USA
Death: Apr. 13, 1982
Denver County
Colorado, USA

Bob graduated with the 1962 class at George Washington High School, Denver, Colorado. Bob was selected for the All City Basketball team in his senior year. He was a fine athlete. Bob grew up in a 2-story tudor home on South Dahlia.

After high school, Bob graduated from the University of Colorado where he majored in political science. He pledged Beta Theta Pi. He also went out for the basketball team and was red shirted. He hit a golf ball with passion. He worked at National Mortgage and as a stockbroker at Walston and Company weathering the downturn of the late 1960's. As most of us during that time, Vietnam was defining a lot of our actions. He joined the Army Reserve in 1967, working in a medic unit. He was assigned to the orthopedic ward at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Aurora. He then joined the Peace Corp and was posted in The Gambia. There, he rode a motorbike on bad or non-existent roads. As only Bob could, he made friends with all the people with whom he was associated. Returning to Denver after his two years in the Peace Corp, he worked as a taxi driver and other odd jobs. Bob zealously sought out unconventional and varied adventures, including several cross-country drives, living in Oakland CA, Boston, MA and other cities on the east coast. In Boston he got back into stocks (shelves that is), working in a grocery store. Bob was in search of his life's purpose up to his death. He would immerse himself in reading including a long period of concentration on western philosophers from ancient to current. And women drove a lot of his decisions. He always had a love, if not infatuation.

One anecdote occurred when a GW classmate appeared on his doorstep, in a US Army uniform on his way to Korea. Bob hid the friend in his apartment so the neighborhood Berkley students wouldn't stone his friend or burn down Bob's apartment.

Bob pursued his dreams and travels, always looking for new things to learn and to experience.

Bob died from a brain tumor on April 13, 1982 prior to his 38 birthday. He is buried at Fairmont's Emanuel Cemetery, Denver, CO.
