Fred Roscoe Leathers, Jr., 74, of Bardstown died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Norton's Springview Nursing Home in Lebanon. A lifelong resident of Bardstown, he was employed at Shelton's Furniture for 50 years and later worked part time at Colvin's Furniture after his retirement. He was an active member and deacon of First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ and an Air Corp Army Veteran of World War II as a lieutenant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred R. Sr. and Ethel Snider Leathers; his wife, Josephine Tong Leathers; one son, Timothy Martin (Robert Timothy) Leathers; and a sister, Alberta Ireland. He is survived by two sons, Frederick Leathers of Lebanon and Robert Martin Leathers of Bardstown; one daughter, Mary Suzanne Cunningham of Franklin, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth Buchta of Boonville, Ind. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ. Burial will be in Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. Rick Loader will officiate. Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
