Funeral services will be held this morning at the state veterans center for Mrs. Edna Fern Goodman, 80, of Del Norte. Mrs. Goodman, a real pioneer of the area died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born at Granger, December 18, 1888, the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Chamberlain Pfeiffer, and was a granddaughter of Colonel A. H. Pfeiffer of frontier military fame.
She grew up in the district and attended the old South Fork and Granger country schools in Del Norte and at Pueblo Central. She and Ira M. Goodman were married at Granger in the spring of 1912. The family home for years was the Goodman ranch north of Del Norte and for many late years in Del Norte.
The home and two sons, Myrwood, now deceased, and Paul of South Fork, were her prime interests in her life. She was active in historical groups that chronicled valley historical events and the characters. She was a member of the Catholic church.
Besides her son Paul, she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Lena Elliott of Monte Vista, Mrs. Jessie Morse, and Mrs. Emma Allen, both of California; one each niece and nephew, Velma Alspaugh and Oscar Goodman of Del Norte, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at the veterans center cemetery with Rev. Raymond Grimes officiating.
