Son of Charles and Mabel (Evans) Denton.
Moved with family to Bladen in 1916 when he was 2 years old; known as "Swede," because of his light-colored hair; graduated from Bladen High School in 1932 with his future wife; was baptized into the Methodist Church Dec. 22, 1921, at age 7.
Married: June 23, 1937, to Veva Feis in Omaha.

Worked at the Boys' Training School in Kearney, 1937 - 1956, initially being in charge of the dairy and working his way up to assistant superintendent; began buying and farming land in the Platte Valley and become the proverbial horse trader like his Iowa grandfather, E.P. Denton.

Began farming his own land full time, April 1956; later also managed farms for others, including land in Buffalo, Kearney, Dawson and Sherman counties; retired from active farming in 1989, but continued to manage farms for several years.

Enjoyed good health throughout most of his life with the exception of the last several months before his death.
