Sarah Ann Tucker was born in Morgan County, Indiana September 17, 1840. She removed with her father's family to Iowa in 1854. On December 5, 1861, she was united in marriage to M. A. (Matthew) Thompson, who survives her, together with seven children, to mourn her loss; four having gone on before the mother, who died March 29, 1899 at the age of 58 years, 6 months, and 5 days. For thirty years, Mrs. Thompson has been a member of the Mt. Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church, four miles east of Nodaway. She has been a great sufferer for something over a year, yet ever bearing her affliction with patience and Christian fortitude. We are persuaded that the gracious words of our blessed Lord wore a strength and a stay even to the end, when He said "Lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."
