Funeral services for John R. May, 84, of Sandersville, who died Monday, Dec. 28, at his home near Buffalo Creek were held yesterday, Wednesday Dec. 30, at 11 o'clock, at the poplar Springs church. The Rev. E. G. Orahood, pastor of the Sandersville Christian church, officiated.
Mr. May was born December 29, 1869, in Washington county, son of the late J. P. May and Mrs. Amada Bradshaw May. He was married to the former Miss Fronie Franks in 1912. Mr. May was one of the most prominent farmers in Washington county and was the owner and operator of J. R. May Store. He was a member of Poplar Springs Christian church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. John R. May, Sandersville, and one sister, Mrs. J. W. Harrison of Oconee.
Pall bearers were Carl V. Brookins, Newman Brookins, Buster Arnold, Oscar Brooks, Ray Franks and Thomas Daniel. Interment was in the church yard cemetery with Mayo Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
