Spc. Charles T. Heinlein Jr., 23, of Hemlock, Mich.; was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.; died July 31 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Also killed were Spc. Zachariah J. Gonzalez and Spc. Alfred H. Jairala.
