Kenneth Joseph Ferschweiler was the son of John Francis Ferschweiler and Lena Van Bogget. Ken married Marguerite Helen Barnes in 1939. They had three children: Eileen, Keith and Bryan.

Kenneth J. Fershweiler, a retired employee of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, died of cancer Saturday in his Southeast Portland home. He was 77.

The rosary and a Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery Mausoleum.

He was born March 23, 1915, in Woodburn. He attended St. Patrick's Grade School and Columbia Preparatory School and graduated from St. Stephen's High School. After attending Oregon Institute of Technology, Mr. Ferschweiler worked for the Fish and Wildlife Service for 27 years until his retirement in 1972.

Mr. Ferschweiler served as secretary for Milwaukie Elks Lodge 2032 for 17 years and was the lodge's exalted ruler from 1972-73. A member of Holy Family Catholic Church for 44 years, he had done volunteer work for Providence Milwaukie Hospital and delivered food for Meals-on-Wheels for 15 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Eileen Brown of Gladstone; sons, Brian of Portland and Keith of Salisbury, Md.; sister, Catherine Fery of Aumsville; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to the Portland Adventist Medical Center hospice program, Holy Family Catholic Church, the Oregon Elks Eye Clinic or the Oregon division of the American Cancer Society.
