Virginia H. Nesbit of Eugene, OR. died Jan. 27 of age-related causes. She was 97. Virginia was born Sept. 23, 1906, in Butte, MT, to E. Russell and Emma Fuller Hunt. She moved to Portland, where she spent her childhood years. Virginia graduated from the University of Oregon in 1929 and taught music. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and Mu Phi Epsilon, and was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Virginia was also a concert pianist. She married William "Wally" Nesbit on June 29, 1934. He died Aug. 21, 1970. She and her husband were among the founders of Columbia Ladder Co. in 1934 and operated manufacturing plants in Portland and Woodburn, Alameda, CA, and Honolulu, Hawaii. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served on the stake Relief Society board for more than 20 years. Survivors include daughters, Emma Glausi of Eugene, Catherine Nesbit of Chiang Mei, Thailand, Jean Glausi of Eugene; two sons, William of San Diego and James of Springfield; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial, River View Cemetery in Portland.
