HERTFORD - Louise Sutton Jordan, 88, died Nov. 30, 2000, in Chowan Hospital.
A native of Chowan County, Mrs. Jordan was the daughter of the late Annie Copeland and Samuel James Sutton and the wife of the late Wade Hampton Jordan Sr. Mrs. Jordan was a devoted Christian, a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a longtime Sunday School teacher, a member of the Willing Worker's Sunday School class and the Mary Long Circle. She had served as the WMU director and worked faithfully with Bible School. She is survived by her son, Wade H. Jordan Jr. and his wife, Lillian, of Edenton, N.C.; two sisters, Mary S. White of Hertford, and Fannie Mae Upton of Seneca, S.C.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Jordan; her daughter, Mary Lou Godwin; three brothers, Louis Sutton, James Sutton, William Sutton; and her sister, Mildred Garrett.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Beaver Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Jimmy Green. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Evans Funeral Home, Edenton, and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wade Jordan, 242 Country Club Dr., Edenton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Bethel Baptist Church, Route 1, Box 848, Hertford, NC 27944.
