OCEAN SPRINGS --- Fannie B. Jones, 103, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, in Ocean
Springs.
Mrs. Jones was born Sept. 8, 1898 and was a resident of Ocean Springs. She
attended the Biloxi Colored School and was a member of the New Bethel Missionary
Baptist Church, where she was the founder of the Mother Board, a member of the
Pastor's Aide Club and Banquet, the Kitchen Committee, Senior Mission Senior
Choir, Angelic Choir and the Women's Day Program. She was also a member of the
Love and Charity No. 20 and Ivy Green Court of Calanthe No. 400.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Jones; three brothers, Leonard
Burney, Eugene Burney and Fred Burney; and six sisters, Laura Batson, Julia
Jackson, Georgia Rankins, Marguerite Jefferies, Lula Burney and Olivia Burney.
Survivors include a sister, Essie White of Biloxi.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church,
where friends may call two hours prior to service time.
Burial will be in the Biloxi Cemetery, directed by the House of Richmond in
Biloxi.
