W.T. (Bill) Esselman, 89, 112 E Ross, operator of the Esselman Electric Shop since 1918, died Sunday afternoon at W.C. Tenery Community Hospital.
Mr. Esselman was born in Murray County, Tennessee on June 29, 1887 and came to Texas in a covered wagon. Prior to starting his electric shop, Mr. Esselman was employed by the Texas Power and Light Co. and also was employed by the one-time independant telephone company of Waxahachie. He was a former member of the Men's Downtown Bible Class and was a Baptist. Also was a volunteer fireman for Waxahachie and was Assistant Fire Chief.
Mr. Esselman was preceded in death by his wife in 1970.
Survivors include 4 sons, Douglas, James A., Jack and Travis Esselman all of Waxahachie; 2 daughters, Mrs. Ruth Cox of Waxahachie and Mrs. Louise Griggs of Joaquin; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Loyd McNair of DeSoto.
