Elizabeth was born in old Pendleton Dist SC. She was the 4th child born to John & Mary Jane (Steele) Barnett. Her grandfather, Isaac Steele, was a Revolutionary Soldier serving from South Carolina.

John Barnett was born 8 Apr 1794 in SC and died 13 Jan 1847. He married Mary Jane Steele on 13 Jul 1812. Mary Jane was born 22 Sep 1790, died 26 Sep 1872. Both are buried in unmarked graves at the Barnett Cemetery near Muscadine AL. In addition to Elizabeth, their children were Amos Barnett, Isaac Barnett, Margaret Barnett Kilgore, Jonathan Barnett, Jane Barnett Stephens, John Barnett, Riley Barnett, James Barnett, Grizzel Barnett Woods, William Barnett, Anderson Barnett, and Wesley Barnett.

Elizabeth became the 2nd wife of William Sizemore on 12 Aug 1848 in Benton Co AL. They were the parents of Wade Hampton Sizemore, Ben Franklin Sizemore, George Washington Sizemore, John Harrison Sizemore and Levi Sizemore who died in 1856 at age 2. He is believed to be buried at the Barnett Cemetery.

After the death of her husband, Elizabeth moved to Blount Co AL by 1860 with her 4 sons and other family members, including 3 of her brothers and a sister.

Her 2nd son, Ben Franklin, was born 11 Feb 1851. His nieces told me he had a quarrel with his "sweetheart" and found his photo "stabbed through the heart" to a tree. He became very upset, jumped on a horse and left home, never to return. He wrote 2 letters to his mother & brothers, stating they should direct their letters to Marietta, Cobb Co GA. The first letter is dated 23 Aug 1868 in which he mentions cousin John William and his wife Amanda. He doesn't record their last names but I believe it was John William Barnett, son of Elizabeth's brother Isaac, and his wife Amanda Rowland. He also mentions Uncle Ephriam & Uncle George Sizemore living in Gwinnett Co GA, "having heard from them the first of July last." He mentions seeing "cousin Henry Sizemore" when he was on his way to Cobb Co, saying Henry lived in Cleburn Co AL and had been wounded in the war. His 2nd letter is dated 14 Jan 1870 and he writes about having broken his leg, being very ill and that his mind is "pestered." He seems to be telling everyone goodbye. In 1906, his brother, George Washington, recorded in an application that Ben died in 1871.
