Gary Lynn Stephens, 59, of Emlenton, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011, in a fishing accident in Richland Township, Venango County.
Born Aug. 1, 1951, in Oil City, he was a son of Roy and Arlene Texter Stephens of Knox.
Gary was a 1970 graduate of Keystone High School and a retiree of Brown Boiler and Tank of Franklin, where he was a boilermaker.
He was currently working at Sportsmen's Outfitters in Knox and was a carpenter and carpet installer.
He was married June 11, 1983, to Mondaie E. Dobbs, and she survives.
Gary was a member of the Shippenville congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses faith and loved his ministry.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his family.
He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by two sons, Brian Stephens and his wife, Leann, of Monroe and Shane Stephens and his wife, Jen, of Elk City; a brother, Kevin Stephens and his wife, Cindy, of St. Petersburg; four sisters, Cheryl Clinger of St. Petersburg, Brenda Butler and her husband, Tom, of Monroe, Sheila Culberson- Kemmer of Wentlings Corners and Jan Shrum of Monroe; and seven grandchildren, Gary and Chris Stephens, Heather and Jenna Zacherl, and Aaron, Corbin and Nathan Stephens.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the William N. Rupert Mortuary Inc., 430 Mendenhall Ave., Knox.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 11677 Route 322, Shippenville.
