Pfc. U.S. Army, {RA16811215}, Vietnam War-Pfc. Sobota was killed in action by artillery & rocket fire during Operation Hump on 11-08-1965 while serving with Co. C of the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade in the Bien Hoa Province of South Vietnam. Pfc. Sobota started his tour of Vietnam on 5-9-1965.

He is the son of Mr. Joseph J. & Mrs. Lillian C. Sobota of Peoria, Illinois, and he attended the local schools such as Roosevelt Jr. High in Peoria, and he enlisted with the Army in Chicago on 9-25-1964.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Jump Wings, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm.
