Jesse Newman was born Nov. 10, 1810 in Grayson Co., Va. to Nimrod Jr.& Deborah Wileman Newman.
He first married Priscilla Coulson, born abt. 1815 and died July, 1849, daughter of John & Lydia Farmer Coulson, Dec. 25, 1834, in Grayson Co., Va.
They had four children:
1. Nimrod W. Newman (1835-1904)
2. Deborah Jane Newman Lineberry (1838-1905)
3. John A. Newman (1840-1917)
4. Lydia S. Newman McGee (1841-1869)

He married second Martha Mabe, daughter of Taylor & Juda George Mabe, March 17, 1852 in Carroll Co., Va.
They had six children:
1. Pennella Newman (1853-1857)
2. Ephraim Newman (1855-1857)
3. Nancy Margaret Newman Ayers (1857-1903)
4. Juda Frances Newman Duncan (1860-1922)
5. Urina E. Newman (1862-1901)
6. James Ellis Newman (1865-1942)
