She was born on December 30, 1916 in Nankin, Ohio to the proud parents of Frank B. MANBECK and Lottie B. BARBER MANBECK.
In 1939 Dorothy met and eventually married Donald Harry Lee SHREFFLER. They had 2 daughters, Mary Ann and Linda.
They built a log cabin in Ashland, Ohio on Baney Road and lived there happily for 10 years, before selling their home and moving to Florida in the late 1950‘s.
Don and Dorothy bought a home in Ocala, Florida, and resided their until their retirement in the early 1970's. At that time they sold their home, had a big yard sale, and bought a truck and travel trailer. They traveled the country far and wide for 20 years meeting many wonderful people and seeing lots of exquisite sights.
Dorothy loved her church, her music, and most favorite of all she loved her autoharp. She would try to play her hymns on it every Sunday that she could. Dorothy was often invited to perform at her church, Southside Baptist Church located in Ocala, Florida. She was quite delighted to share her love of music with others.
They finally decided to stop traveling around the country and settle down in Lake City, Florida, at their daughter Linda's former home. There they met new neighors and formed lasting friendships. She lived an active life and walked several miles daily.
Dorothy Manbeck Shreffler passed away October 30, 2003 in Lake City, Florida. She was laid to rest in Florida National Cemetary in Bushnell, Sumter, Florida. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, one son, one grand-daughter and one great-grandson.
