Thomas Tilden, 8th Street, Grand Haven, age 14, died suddenly Thursday while on a summer visit at his Grandparents farm near Grant. Tom told his grandmother that he was going to go look at a nearby creek. He didn't return home for supper. Relatives and neighbors started a search, and then called the police. The search involved several police and fire departments and continued throughout the night. At 7am, two uncles, Bill Dietz and Larry Dietz, both of Newaygo, found Tom.

Thomas Jr. was born October 16, 1957 in Stillwater, Okla. He moved to Grand Haven with his parents, Mr. and Mrs Thomas T. Tilden., Fire Chief of Grand Haven from Indiana eight years ago.
He would have started Senior High School in the Fall and had completed 9th grade in the Junior High, and participated in gymnastics. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to fish and hunt. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.
Surviving besides his parents are three sisters, Debra Ann, Susan and Mary all at home, a brother Michael at home, Grandparents Mrs Virginia Tilden of Muskegon and Mr and Mrs William Dietz of Grant, along with several Aunts and Uncles.
