Jazz Guitarist. He made his professional debut with the Paul Winter group in 1964 and was lead guitarist in the Miles Davis band by 1968. He has performed with many artists to include Gil Evans, Duke Ellington, Buddy Rich, Sergio Mendes, Carlos Jobim, James Brown and Stan Getz. In the 1970s to 1980s, he recorded and toured playing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, Milan Philharmonic in Italy and the Paris String Ensemble in France. He also composed and arranged film and television programs for Frank Sinatra and Esther Phillips. He was honored five times by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences as a "Most Valuable Player." Cause of death, cancer. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
