Obituary from the Shreveport Times newspaper, Dec. 28, 1992, Monday, p. 10-A:

SHREVEPORT, LA – Funeral services for Mr. Louis E. Plaisance, age 67, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 1992 in Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel. A vigil service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, December 28, 1992. Officiating will be Monsignor Earl Provenza, rector of St. John Berchmans Cathedral. Burial will be in Forest Park on St. Vincent Ave. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Plaisance died Saturday, December 26, 1992 in Shreveport, La. after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Clarence, La. and a resident of Shreveport, La. He was a retired Major with the Shreveport Police Department after 27 years service. Mr. Plaisance was a member of St. John Berchmans Cathedral, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Municipal Police Officers Association and the Louisiana Police Officers Association. He was also a member of the Retired Police Officers Association, a veteran of W.W. II, a member of Lowe-McFarlane American Legion Post 14, Gandy-Brown Post [4588 of the VFW] in Bossier City and Voiture Local No. 137 of the 40 & 8.

Mr. Plaisance is survived by his wife, Mary Plaisance of Shreveport, La.; one son, Ed Plaisance of Shreveport, La.; one daughter, Mrs. Donna Soloman and husband, Jay of Shreveport, La.; and two grandsons, Christopher Plaisance and Justin Soloman.

Pallbearers will be eight uniform members of the Shreveport Police Department.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Shreveport Police Department, members of the American Legion, Dr. Robert LaFargue, Dr. Robert McCoy and associates.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Restoration Fund of St. John Berchmans Cathedral, the American Heart Association, National Diabetes Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
