Old Resident of This County Passes Friday Following Illness of 19 Weeks; Native of Sweden

Funeral services for Charles Alfred Anderson, 81 years old, who died peacefully at his home northwest of Aledo at 1:30 am Friday November 27, were held Sunday afternoon with Rev. CR Booth pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Aledo officiating. Burial was made in the Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. gerald Baldwin sang "Going Down the Valley" and Mr Baldwin "A Perfect Day". The home was filled with mourning relatives and friends who came to pay final tribute to their departed comrade. Pallbearers were: Albert Bonygne, Louis Hyett, Otis Reaber, John Olson, Mason Taylor, neighbors and EH Clauson of Aledo.

Mr. Anderson was born near Stockholm Sweden Oct 27, 1850 but came to America and Mercer County when 12 years old and has continuously resided in this country since. He was united in marriage to Miss Josephine Jacobson at Aledo, IL March 12, 1877. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary March 2, 1927.

Eleven children were born to them, three of whom died in infancy. Two other children, Amanda and Ralph, died in young womahood and manhood. Surviving are his widow and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Minnie Bonynge of Sterling; Misses Tillie and Edith, at home; Arthur of Muskegon Hts., MI; Earl of southwest of Aledo; and Mrs Myrtle Nesbitt, at home; one brother Frank of Jamestown , NY, and eight grandchildren.

Mr Anderson united with the Methodist Episcopal church of Aledo about 25 years ago, being a faithful follower of that faith and holding an office in the church most of the time. His entire life was spent as a farmer and he had lived on the farm where he died for nearly 42 years.

He was a highly respected citizen in his community and an industrious farmer, remaining active in his duties on the farm until illness forced him to give them up. He had been confined to his bed since Friday July 17, 1931 and was ill for 19 weeks preceding his death.
