RIPON - Otto F. Badtke, 81, former operator of the Northwestern Hotel here, died at his home at 6 a.m. today following a short illness.
A lifelong resident of the area, he was born in the Town of Green Lake May 14, 1875, the son of Herman and Louise Hinz Badtke. He attended public schools and operated a farm in the area until 1924, when he bought the hotel, operating it until his retirement in 1944.
He was married Dec. 8, 1899, to Anna Schroeder, who died two years ago.
Surviving are five daughters; Mrs. Gordon Murchie, Vancouver, Wash., Mrs. C. J. Leeman, Milwaukee, Mrs. Clair Brunner, Horicon, and Mrs. Ralph Blake and Miss Irma Badtke, both of Ripon, a son, Harvey, Ripon, a brother, Albert, Ripon, a sister, Mrs. Edith Schwartz, Omro, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. E. E. Schieler officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Butzin Funeral Home from 7 p.m. today to 11 a.m. Wednesday and thereafter at the church.
