Charles Drennan Lisenba, Jr. was born in Mobile, Alabama on April 13, 1924 to Charles and Edith Lisenba. When the family moved to Dallas, he attended and graduated from Highland Park High School, where he was an ROTC cadet. In 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps as an Aviation Cadet. In 1944, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and served as a fighter pilot and instructor, flying the P-40 Warhawk, P-38 Lightening, and his favorite, the P-51 Mustang. He continued his military service until the end of the Korean Conflict, flying patrols along the Canadian border and achieving the rank of Captain.

He met the love of his life, Bennie Mae Maddox, on a blind date and they were married on January 25, 1947. They were married for 68 years, until Bennie’s death last July.

Chuck was a salesman at heart, working for and owning a number of businesses throughout his life. He loved to travel and was fortunate to see many wonderful places throughout the world. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends, and especially his daughters and grandchildren.

Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved Bennie and daughter Denise Carroll. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Dorrie and Hank Loughborough; grandchildren Alex and Anne Loughborough and Wade, Delaney, and Ben Carroll, and his great-grandson, Kasyn Carroll.
