Alfred Edward Sephton
Birth: Apr. 19, 1911
Death: May 19, 1941

World War II Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Petty Officer in the Royal Navy. In actions in the Mediterranean Sea, south of Crete, Petty Officer Sephton was a director layer on the HMS Coventry when she went to the assistance of a hospital ship which was being attacked by German dive-bombers. When the enemy engaged the Coventry with machine-gun fire, Petty Officer Sephton was mortally wounded and partially blinded, but stuck to his instruments and carried out his duties until the attack was over.
