Olympic Athlete. He was a Norwegian cross-country skier who competed for his country during the 1970s. At the 1972 Winter Games in Sapporo, he won Olympic bronze in the 15 km and silver in the relay. At Innsbruck 1976, he won Olympic silver in the relay and gold in the 50 km. In 1974, he also won the first unofficial World Cup, 4 World Championship bronze medals, 6 Norwegian Championships and World Championship bronze in the orienteering relay. After retiring as an athlete he had a career as a businessman and served as chairman of the cross-country committee International Ski Federation.
