Sgt. Scott Kirkpatrick Holmes, of Charleston, departed this dear life July 24, 2004, as a result of injuries received in a motorcycle accident in which the individual responsible is still at large.


He was the son the late George T. Holmes and Anne Whitlock Holmes now of Spartanburg, SC.


Sgt. Holmes was a member of the Charleston Police Department for the past 17 years and also of the Army National Guard for 23 years.


Having been raised in Pickens, SC, Scott attended school there and later received his college degree in History from the Citadel and his masters in Public Administration from Webster University. Activated for one year following 9/11 he received the meritorious service award from the Army. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Citadel Alumni Association and the Sumter Guard. Sgt. Holmes was a Methodist.


In addition to his mother and his dear, loving wife Suzette Latsko Holmes of Charleston, Scott is survived by one sister, Carrie Teska and husband Allan of Atlanta, GA; his in-laws Ellen and John Latsko that he loved so and two sisters-in-law, Audrey and Kadie Latsko and one nephew Jaedyn Rivera all of Allentown, PA.
