REGIMENTAL HISTORY:
This Regiment originally rendezvoused at Anna, Union County, Illinois, May 16,1861, for the 9th Congressional District, under the "Ten Regiment Bill." May 19 it was mustered into the State service for thirty days, by Ulysses S. Grant, then State Mustering Officer, and was on the 28th of the same month, by Captain Pitcher, U. S. A., mustered into the service of the United States for three years. On December 16, 1865, the Regiment was mustered out at Little Rock, Ark., and December 31, thereafter, arrived at Camp Butler, Illinois, for payment and discharge.
